Oldest and youngest

We've officially entered a new stage around here. Sammy has been a great big brother (to the best of his age-appropriate ability) thus far, but now little Jonny is on the go, getting around and things are changing. He ADORES S and wants to be right with him, whatever S is doing, J wants to do to. But he is 10 mos. old (almost), so his idea of playing with blocks is different than a 34 mo. old's idea. So this is the precise scene I happened to witness this morning while trying to enjoy my one cup of coffee that of late I have to practically gulp down. S didn't want me to put J down on the family room floor because he in his wisdom has now caught on to the fact that J will come straight to him. I told him that J wanted to play with him and that he could share the blocks, yada, yada, you get the picture. Well, sure enough, J beelined it over there and grabbed a block or two, knocked down the tower, grabbed S's foot, grabbed his shirt. It was so incredibly funny, but I couldn't laugh (very hard not to!). S split his efforts between complaining to me and saying "No, Jonny, don't grab my foot, give me my arm, no...", with a very grumpy look on his face, I might add. And all the while, J was obliviously just being near his big brother and loving it. The first of many such occasions, I'm sure. In fact, I think I have seen old video of myself as a big sister with that very same grouchy face and those very same protests escaping my mouth. :-) (The photo is from another day several weeks ago...)
