Yesterday, S & I were picking up a few things at Target. He is always an active participant in the endeavor and wants to help hold things, put them next to him (often saying "milk by my leg"), put them in the back basket area, even putting things on the conveyor at check-out, etc.
Well, unbeknownst to me, he is also keenly watching the people around him. We passed a pregnant women who was carrying a large jug of Dreft, a package of baby crib bedding, and one other item. S quickly and loudly said, "Lady need cart". I thought his assessment of the situation was so astute!
Later, as we were leaving the parking lot and he was looking out the window, he said:
"Man drive truck. Big one. Lady drive car."
To which I asked, "What color was the lady's car?".
He replied, "Black".
Once we were at home, he hopped on his tricycle (which is indoors right now) and said:
"Bye Momma".
I asked where he was going, to which he replied, "Store".
"What are going to buy at the store?", I questioned.
"Apples. Stuff" was his answer.
I LOVE talking to this little man! Never a dull moment...
