Rhetorical questions...and unexpected responses

This morning my little dear S woke up, shall we say, on the wrong side of the crib (I wish I could say big boy bed here instead, but not yet...). He seemed happy enough at first, but had very strong opinions about every move I had in mind for him. For example, he NEEDED every animal friend that sleeps with him to come out of the crib. I usually only allow one friend out, because I can't stand hunting them all down each time we need them. So I won that battle, but not without some strong opposition. Then he didn't want to cooperatively follow me downstairs to eat breakfast. He instead wanted to go sit in "Momma's bed". Well, I also won that battle too, but - you guessed it, not without major resistance.

In order to retain my sanity, I said, "You sure do have your cranky pants on this morning. Where did you get those cranky pants?"

Very matter of factly, S snapped out of his whiny stupor to reply, "In the drawer".

Duh, Momma. Didn't you know that there were cranky pants in the drawer?!! :-)

Strong opinions, Strong will sometimes = Stong desire to learn. It is hard making all of the decisions and then allowing them, at age 2, to decide things that will make life harder for you.

How obvious an answer he had "in the drawer" as if you should have known that one. He is quick on those little feet, which I mean the wheels in his brain.

Matt enjoyed talking to him and we are sending hugs and kisses to him on his birthday.
